July 15th, 2009 (Day 8)

Another beautiful morning. Pete and Barb are playing golf this morning at 9 at the Headwaters Golf Course at Granby Ranch. This is a beautiful course designed by Jack Nicklaus, located not far from Silver Creek, where Cindy and I stayed the first 2 nights. They are hoping they don't encounter any more moose while they play.

A couple of views of the golf course.........

After their golf round they wandered around Grand Lake and enjoyed the beautiful flowers...

Dave, Nitsa, and Ruth decided to drive up to Rocky Mountain National Park today and do some sight seeing of their own....

A little bit windy along the Ridge Road...

A view of Longs Peak from the north...

They stopped in Rocky Mountain National Park at Bear Lake....

Pete and Barb did not encounter any more moose today, but Dave, Nitsa and Ruth did see some elk...

Meanwhile, back in Fraser...................

Some of the sights around the town of Fraser included the Visitor's Center. There is a little garden around the Visitor's Center, with statues of some of the famous people from the area, including Jeremiah Johnson............

Byers Peak is a sentinel for the entire valley north of Winter Park..........

Here's a statue of Jim Bridger............

Fraser, Colorado.........

'Ice Box of the Nation'

Karl took the Edge for a drive on some jeep trails around Winter Park......

The idea was to head up Corona Pass Road. Thinking he was on the right turnoff he headed East.. it turned out to be Rollins Pass Road..

The road was in good shape most of the time. There were several areas that had been clear-cut of timber...

Looking North towards RMNP, he can't quite see Dave, Nitsa, and Ruth.......

Looking back at Winter Park, and the ski slopes......

The Edge managed very well on the trails.. Tomorrow will be more of a test...
